Lakota Indians

Four Lakota women standing, three holding infants in cradleboards, and a Lakota man on horseback, in front of a tipi.

Believe it or not, when this photo was taken in 1891 it was named by the studio who took it - 'A pretty group at an Indian tent.'  A pretty group!?! Did they look at their faces? They may be pretty but they are not happy. They are on the Indian Reservation at Pine Ridge.
